[ TOP 5 HARDEST IMAGES TO WALLPAPERIZE ]
Some images are just not meant to be turned into wallpapers while there are those just begging to be. But there are some series that are really, really really tough. Like the following.

1. Angel Sanctuary, or anything by Kaori Yuki for that matter. Kaori Yuki's penchant for drawing willowy characters with stupid wispy hair and lots of small details (damn feathers) makes it nearly impossible to make a wallpaper that can do justice to the original image. One would have to do lots of careful erasing, blurring, and layer blending just to get rid of the background. It can be pure torture to someone with little patience.

2. Naoko Takeuchi's artwork. For the same reasons as above. There almost always HAS to be flowers or feathers floating all over the place and the colors are already so rich, there's very little editing necessary at all. Each artbook image already looks like a wallpaper...

3. CLAMP. The DETAILS yet again. The hair that's all over the place. They're always floating in the wind or something so there are patches of background in between strands which make it hard to erase things. Plus the backgrounds are oh sooo elaborate. There are VERY few CLAMP pics where the character is just standing in front of nothing.

4. D.N.Angel. Despite the fact that I love him, Dark doesn't seem to like me very much. I guess I'm just the kind of person who finds it hard to work with wispy images, or images that have a lot of hair ^^.

5. Weiss Kreuz. Because there are always four of them and they're always spread out all over the place. They get in the way x_x; Solo pictures do exist, but they're usually too small or the character is cut off from both sides, etc etc.
[ TOP 5 EASIEST IMAGES TO WALLPAPERIZE ]
1. War of Genesis 3 or Magna Carta. Everyone and their mother has at least one WoG3 or MC wallpaper in their gallery. It's so easy to make wallpapers for them. The images often available have the character standing before a white background and it's colored solidly. You can take out the background in one click. The hair problem is a small one. All you have to worry about is what you'll put under them. The sad thing, however, is that everyone puts 3D SMax stuff behind them, which makes them all look too similar.

2. FLCL/Furikuri. The Groundwork artbook is EXCELLENT, as are the other sources of FLCL images. The bold strokes, sharp edges, vibrant colors, and clean backgrounds are a wallpaper designer's dream. I love Haruhara. She makes a neat covergirl. Plus her poses are always so much fun.

3. Sentimental Graffiti. Much like WoG3, there are plenty SG images with plain white backgrounds. However, they tend to be tougher than the former. Sentimental Graffiti images, while pretty, tend to be subdued and a bit too plain to make good wallpapers. One would have to think of interesting things to do to the background.

4. Digi Charat. This one is a bit harder than the others I've already mentioned. The backgrounds here are usually patterned, but not too busy, and the characters aren't swamped with debris (aka feathers, cherry blossoms, hearts, and sparkles). The soft colors are also a plus. It's easy to blend Digi Charat images with any pattern or design you want in the back and adjust their colors to fit the over-all design.

5. Atelier Marie. Marie is so wallpaper-genic ^__^. Much like Digi Charat in terms of editing ease, though the hair here is usually tougher.

Well, that's it for MY list! There are still quite a lot of series that I haven't tried to wallpaperize or which I've only made wallpapers for once so I can't make generalizations. For example, the only Infinite Ryvius image I had was truly difficult but I can't say that all Ryvius images are hard. Maybe this list will change eventually.
